Is The Restaurant Take Out Containers Safe To Use

Total migration was detected with simulated fluid

Consumers commonly known as disposable lunch boxes "toxic", a more standardized expression should be the total amount of migration unqualified. In this experiment, the inspectors selected several disposable lunch boxes that are more common on the market, and conducted a food packaging mobility experiment in response to consumers' concerns.

The migration experiment is mainly to test the total migration. The total migration amount refers to the total amount of non-volatile substances obtained after the food contact material is soaked in simulated vinegar, simulated wine, simulated oil and other food simulation liquid under certain conditions, and the soaking liquid is dried.

Colored lunch boxes may be discolored

Through soaking, drying, drying constant weight, weighing and other testing procedures, some of the experimental vessels were transparent and unchanged, while some left white or pink marks on the bottom. The inspectors said that the white or pink mark is precipitated from the disposable lunch box. From the results of the food packaging migration experiment, it can be concluded that the qualified disposable tableware is relatively safe for the human body, while the poor quality lunch box may have a large number of toxic and harmful substances precipitation, and the color of the lunch box may also exist decolorization phenomenon.

It is worth mentioning that there is not precipitation on behalf of disposable tableware unqualified, because the national standard stipulates that the total migration limit is 10mg/dm2, only beyond the limit is unqualified.

Consumption reminder: Preferably transparent disposable lunch box

In response to the results of the inspection, it is recommended that operators and consumers try to choose transparent, colorless disposable tableware.

Many consumers feel that the disposable lunch box packed only once is too wasteful, so can it be used repeatedly after cleaning? Inspectors say it is best to avoid reuse of disposable lunch boxes.

Try to avoid heating in the microwave

Can a disposable lunch box go straight into the microwave? Inspectors suggest that if you want to use a microwave oven to heat food, be sure to pay attention to the material of the tableware, tableware label if not PP (polypropylene) material, or no heating in the microwave oven mark, it is best not to use a microwave oven to heat.

It is reported that the current melting point of PP is 167 ° C, which is the only plastic lunch box or disposable lunch box that can be entered into the microwave oven, and its outer packaging is marked as No. 5. It should be noted that even if some tableware labels indicate polypropylene material, but if the manufacturer does not mark can be used for microwave heating, consumers had better not heat through the microwave oven.
